Although I consider myself a city girl, there is something quite amazing about the country. It’s calming, quiet and absolutely beautiful. After receiving an invitation from my dear friend, Kelly Kramer to come out to her farm to take pictures, I jumped on the opportunity and began outfit planning. Knowing there would be an immense amount of dry land from the harsh winter, I thought it would be kinda cool to do a country-esque safari look. A little khaki, hunter green and camel brown of course. Also, I’ve been dying to style my new boots for a blog shoot and this felt like the perfect atmosphere. Ok, enough of my jibber jabber. Enjoy a little “Dry Land” courtesy of the Kramer farm and Kimberly’s excellent picture taking skills.
For the last couple of weeks, this girl has been dreaming of spring! I absolutely hate cold weather and not to mention, I cannot drive in the snow. I’ve been chilling at home waiting for the snow to melt and having Jason drive me around town. I’m not going to lie, I don’t mind his chauffeur services. haha. So in hopes of spring coming (please come, please come) soon, I have decided to put my creative energy into designing a winter look with warm neutrals and pastels. And I must say, this is my MOST favorite Get The Look Thursdays outfit ever!!! The wardrobe, the sunlight, the scenery and Kimberly’s wicked awesome photography skills…ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Also, I would like to thank Lizzy, a wonderful Birchbox Instagram follower, for the lovely inspiration behind this week’s title. You rock Lizzy : )
I must admit…I’m loving the fur trend and I hope that it NEVER fades away. I feel like we are living in olden days when it was considered “normal” for a woman to regularly wear fur. I would give anything (well, not just anything…lol) to experience the fashion of that era. Just imagine…walking into Bergdorf Goodman’s on 5th Ave in the 1950s to purchase a lush piece of fur, a bottle of Chanel perfume and a pair of black stilettos by Roger Vivier. Oh, the splendor. Now that I’m done daydreaming, let’s get back to this wanderlust Get The Look Thursday…say hello Vintage Fur, my absolute most favorite #GTLT to date with imagery by Kimberly J. Photography!
Just like every other person in America, I made a New Years resolution to work out a bit more and I HAVE NOT! It has just been way too cold to get up any earlier and make a trip to the gym…haha. So, in hopes of motivating my lazy butt, I bought a new workout shirt! While shopping at Kohls I was tempted to purchase the entire workout section! Everything was sooooo stinking cute. Fitness wear has really evolved with lots of fun color, prints and even textures. I do believe that the treadmill will become my new runway…a little fashion, a little working out = THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS for this girl.
Werk It Out
More often than not, I am that one girl at the gym who has on all of the crazy colors! Personally, the gym has a very drab feeling. Doesn’t matter where I go…Planet Fitness, YMCA or the fancy smancy Equinox, it just feels blah! So I always wear something loud, hence the reason I have these wonderfully bright pink Nike capri pants. Love them. Super comfy and they have inside lining!
Even when I’m getting dressed for the gym, I think about the accessories. To tone down the pink just tad, I thought it would be best to add a few neutrels…chunky infinity scarf for the bitter cold and of course a little Northface Denali action. This jacket is amazingly warm! I’m considering getting one in raspberry pink.
I’m a huge fan of these running shoes! I don’t believe that Nike still makes this particular style, but it is very similar to the Nike Free 5.0+. Lots of cushion! It basically feels like you are (comfortably) running barefoot. Also, there are quite a few different color options!
Isn’t Nixon the cutest Wheaten pup you’ve ever seen? To be honest, he wasn’t too excited about modeling. He just wanted to play in the grass, but we managed to get some awesome action shots! Thanks Nixon : )
He likes to give puppy kisses!
Here’s the workout top that I snagged from Kohls! My eye was immediately drawn to the print. I also liked that grey was the primary color with little hints of mint green. Another great neautrel-esque thing to pair with the raspberry Nike capri pants.
BOOM! Look at that grand battement and yes, I forgot to remove the tags. bahaha.
Today’s moral: If you are lacking gym motivation, I highly recommend that you go shopping for some new workout gear and be sure to snag lots of colorful things! There is nothing wrong with being the “sunshine” in the room….as long as you aren’t the cupcake in the room! You just may encourage someone else to be bolder and brighter with their fitness wardrobe.

So, I’m not sure if you remember or not, but back in November I posted my “November Desires.” And one of those six desires happened to be this sweet reindeer graphic tee from the J. Crew factory and thanks to my amazing momma I was able to snag it! However, I was a tad disappointed upon receiving it to discover that it was EMBELLISHED and I ABSOLUTELY HATE EMBELLISHED graphic tees. It just looks cheap and corny in my opinion. I know…pretty harsh. But, after 2 hours of meticulously cutting tiny threads, I removed all of the bead work and ended up with the most perfect reindeer tee. I think I will name her, Olive. ha.
There aren’t words to even describe how much I am LOVING the faux leather trend. It is totally giving me life right now. However, I’ve had a hard time finding the right faux leather “ANYTHING” due to my rather bubbly butt. So for the last 10 months I have steered clear of this trend, until I discovered this little beauty in a friend’s suitcase!
Not that you will be too surprised, but I was that girl in high school who always wore printed skirts, cowl neck tops, crop pants and any type of high heels I could get my hands on! At the age of 14 I started shopping at Stein Mart…(yup, Stein Mart). Although it was my utmost priority to make outstanding grades and be involved in every possible extracurricular activity, I was just a “tad bit” more concerned about winning the “Best Dressed” Senior Superlative. So, yes, I spent four years of my life attempting to be the best dressed gal of the class of 2007! haha! And guess what??? I DID NOT WIN. Devastated may not even be the word to explain how I felt on that day. Anywho, I share all of this to say that I remember what I was wearing the day they made the announcement..it was this super cute knee length skirt. It was a mauve pink, grey, camel and BURGUNDY floral print skirt. I absolutely loved it. However, about 3 years ago I had to give it away as it no longer fit. But one day while randomly window shopping at H&M near NYU, I found these awesome BURGUNDY crop pants that made me think of that skirt! And to be honest these pants are way more awesome than that skirt could ever have been…they are
“SIMPLE”, much like life is now in comparison to my high school drama days! haha.
Sooooo just in case you guys have not noticed, my most favorite fall pieces are the Live a Little military jacket and my Express cheetah print infinity scarf that I have featured a couple of times on Get The Look Thursdays! Not a week goes by were I DO NOT wear these two pieces at least twice…I just love them! But because I wear these pieces pretty often, I am always looking for new ways to style them…that way they look completely different than the last time, which can be tricky. Especially when I am going on day #67 of “NO PERSONAL SHOPPING!” Anywho, I have given myself a new challenge….learning how to make the most of my closet with what I have! Sounds a lot easier said than done, right? However, in actuality, it really is quite easy. It simply takes a bit more creativity on my end.
Bold Lips & the Drew Berrymore Sweater
I’m that girl who happens to have a “love hate relationship” with graphic tees. They are fun and cute, but there is ALWAYS a BIG FAT BUT for me…LOL. I always buy them and end up giving them away during my annual closet purge. However, there is one that I just cannot seem to part with…I purchased it maybe 5 years ago while at a major blowout sale at Burlington Coat Factory with my mom during the Christmas holiday. Well, this $7 Breakfast at Tiffany’s graphic tee has seen the light of day maybe 4 or 5 times since I purchased it. So, just the other day while attempting to organize my t-shirt drawer (which is a never ending process), I decided it was time to challenge myself and make this stinking graphic tee a wardrobe staple! And I just think I may have succeeded…
