Summer Recap!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

Welp, summer is almost over. 19 days to be exact. Summer is my absolute favorite time of the year and according to the handy dandy almanac, this year’s winter is going to be a brutal one here in West Virginia/Ohio! So, I’m literally enjoying every last drop of sunshine before the cold moves in! To celebrate all the wanderlust that has happened during the last few months, I thought it would be groovy to recap this summer’s #GTLT‘s by sharing my favorite image from each look! Thanks to Kimberly, I have soooo many amazing pictures from each feature that it was REALLY hard to pick, but I think I got it all narrowed down.  So (PAUSE: insert Cat Deeley voice), without further adieu, America here’s your Top 16 Get The Look Thursday Images (and yes, I’ve been watching wayyy too much So You Think You Can Dance. LOL.).

Native Cold Pressed

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014

I’m obsessed with Downtown Columbus. Like seriously obsessed. The shops, the food, the atmosphere is just incredible. If I had my way, Jason and I would be living downtown in a cute little apartment (aka overpriced living quarters with zero square footage) with a silver Labrador named Stella.  We would take walks to park and just marvel. haha. Hey, a girl can dream (and no, that will never be our lives)!  Because of my great love for Downtown life, I make it a point to experience something new every time I’m down that way. So last Friday while downtown I made a pit stop at a place I’ve been dying to try, Native Cold Pressed, for a refreshing, organic beverage and let’s just say…this place did not disappoint.

If you happen to find yourself in Downtown Columbus, I would definitely encourage you to swing by Native Cold Pressed for a Vanilla Coconut Shake (pictured above). It’s amazing.  Also, you just need to experience the atmosphere for yourself. Words cannot describe how swank this place is…#idie.

Friday, June 27th, 2014

For those of you who don’t know, I competed in the Miss America system for 3 years.
Although I never won the title of Miss Georgia, I had a wonderful experience that has Miss Georgia 2014 Maggie Bridgesprovided me with countless job opportunities and life long friends. And speaking of life
long friends, I am sooooooooo thrilled to share that one of my dearest friends (aka my little sister and hometown friend) was crowned Miss GA this past Saturday! I am so excited for her that you would think that I won the pageant. haha. Being the awesome person that she is, Maggie allowed me to style a couple of looks for her, and of course I want to share them with you! So without further adieu, I present to you… Miss  Georgia 2014 , MAGGIE BRIDGES.

And the pants exploration adventure continues! Just the other day I received a sale e-mail from J. Crew Factory, so I decided to take a peek knowing that I didn’t need to spend any money on clothing, and of course I “fashion imprinted” on something! Yup, I should have known that would happen, because it happens every stinking time. Any who, I discovered these really awesome smoke grey, toothpick jeans for just $25. Not my typical jean style or color, so I definitely had to get them. Like a kid at the candy store, I waited in anticipation for these babies to come in the mail only to discover that I didn’t like how they fit. But it was in that moment that I reminded myself that’s kinda why I ordered them…ha.

Get The Look Thursdays: Flower Child

Friday, June 20th, 2014

Playing with new trends is a love/hate relationship for me! Sometimes I really LOVE it and there are other times that I really hate it. Well, I particularly hate all trends involving pants, because I have the longest legs known to mankind and the shortest torso ever. So naturally, pant shopping is problematic and when you throw a couple extra variables into the mix, it makes the process even more cumbersome. Ugh. Earlier this year I made a “Fashion Goals List” and one of the goals included pants exploration. And as PAINFUL as it has been, I am proud to say that I’m pushing thru. So far, I have successfully purchased and worn various prints and pant shapes this year! My most recent pant adventure concluded with a pair of high waisted, bell-bottom jeans from American Eagle aka the Hi-Rise Artist Jeans. And since bell-bottom anything screams 70s, I felt that “Flower Child” was an appropriate title for this week’s #GTLT.

Get The Look Thursdays: Structured B&W

Thursday, June 12th, 2014

Black and white. It’s simple, classic, chic and timeless. Back when I was kiddo, I used to watch my mom get ready and she ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS wore some form of black and white. I remember thinking to myself, “Why does she always wear black?” Well, little did I know at the time, but she was abiding by the fashion law of the land. It is without a doubt, that you can never go wrong with a little black and white. As my love for fashion intensified, I realized that my mom had been a key influence in teaching me that long time fashion rule. So, mom this post is for you! Thank you for teaching me how to KILL IT in black and white 🙂

One Year

Monday, June 9th, 2014

It’s hard to believe that’s been 365 days since Jason and I got hitched! As corny as it sounds, it really does feel like it was just yesterday. This year has been exciting. I’ve learned sooo much about myself, Jason, and what marriage TRULY means. And for those of you who are curious to know my thoughts on marriage…well, it’s simply (not so simple) dying to yourself everyday. There is no longer an “I,” but a WE at all times. Some days it’s a rather simple “WE” and on other days it’s fight because that dang human flesh is sooooo selfish. But as you allow your love to deepen for one another, you soon realize it’s not so hard to say no to the selfish ways of the human heart.

Sooo….here’s to ONE YEAR of sweet, beautiful marriage to my darling love! I do hope you guys enjoy these pictures because I’M ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED. Big thank you to Kimberly J. Photography and Callie Anna Chalk Shoppe & Wedding Design Boutique for making this dream session a reality! Also, these photos are so wondtacular, I will not be commentating as I normally do. I felt that it took away from the imagery!

Get The Look Thursdays: Historically Classic

Thursday, June 5th, 2014

So, I’m currently in Baton Rouge, LA for Miss USA and due to limited time and crazy schedules, I haven’t written my usual #GTLT content, but I still want to make a quick post because you guys are awesome and you deserve a little fashion goodness on this wonderlust Thursday!

As most of you know, I gave myself a little style challenge back in April to wear this lovely tulle skirt I purchased from Peace, Love & Tulle at least once a month and just as I was about to give up on this challenge, I found an awesome crop top from American Eagle for $4.99 that rocked my fashion world. And to be completely honest, I am not a fan of the crop top trend, but I just couldn’t resist this one…

June Desires: Summer Reads

Summer Reads
I really enjoy reading! Sadly I haven’t had much time to enjoy it because of life craziness. The last I book I “actually” completed was Lean In by Sheryl Sandburg it took me 7 months to finish it and now I am reading The Fault In Our Stars like a crazy person so I can go see the movie this weekend! Any who, I share all of this to say that I plan on reading a good bit this summer! Here’s a couple of books that absolutely have to read before summer is over. Do you have any other suggestions on what else I should snag from the book store? If so, drop a comment or two below!

Get The Look Thursdays: Denim & Back Roads

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

Lately, I’ve really been diggin’ the casual look. Things have been soooo insanely busy that I haven’t had the extra energy to style all fancy smancy like I normally do! I don’t even wear makeup or do my hair most days because I am currently running in a hamster wheel that just won’t slow down for anything. ha.  Hopefully, I’ll get back to normal/caught up  sometime this summer, but in the meantime I think I will just continue to enjoy this season of more simple…EVERYTHING. Here’s a super easy outfit that I thru together for a quick lunch date/run around town day! It’s structured, yet casual and just perfect for lazy days when you don’t want to spruce up, but you need and have too.
