Your first red cup of the season just isn’t official until you blog about it…
And just when I think we’ve done it all, Kimberly comes up with another amazing idea…night shooting. Needless to say, but I’m obsessed.
No October is not complete unless you make a trip to the pumpkin patch! With both of our rather insanely busy fall schedules, Kimberly and I penciled in some time to make a trip to the pumpkin patch, only to discover that it was the unorthodox pumpkin patch. It appeared to be more of a pumpkin stand, than a pumpkin patch. Despite the strangeness of the situation, we managed to find a few good pumpkins and snapped some quick photos before things got any stranger than they already were. I mean, it was kinda creepy. The things that we do to have good blog photos…#thestruggleisreal.
I’ve been dying to purchase a plaid button down for almost 2 years now. I just haven’t found one that speaks to me! I know, I sound crazy, but I take my shopping very seriously. I make every effort to fully commit to pieces before I purchase. It does not make sense to buy something if you are 50/50…that’s just my personal montra to keep me on track! Ok, back to my story…so, last week while outfit planning, I realized that Jason had this epic plaid-esque button down on his side of the closet. I took it upon myself to try it on and absolutely LOVED it. Come to find out, Jason has had this button down for over fifteen years! Yes, people, I said FIFTEEN YEARS. The man does not believe in throwing anything away, which is a benefit for me in this particular situation! So, this post is a shoutout to my Forever Boyfriend, who occasionally lets me borrow his clothes. Love you boo <3 and you can pretty much count on not ever wearing this shirt again, because it’s mine now!
Last Fall during my spending freeze (for those of you who don’t know, I went 120 days with no unnecessary shopping), a beautiful plaid scarf took the bloggersphere by storm! Saddened by the fact that I could not purchase one due to my no shopping commitment, I hoped, hoped and HOPED some more, that Zara would create another beautiful plaid scarf for Fall 2014 and luckily for me, THEY DID! So, during my last NYC trip, I made a stop by Zara in SoHo with my friend Keisha to confirm that I indeed loved the scarf and wasn’t just purchasing it to be like the “cool kids” (I LOVE THAT SONG). As you can see, I really did just LOVE IT.
Welp, what do you think of the new site? I sure hope that you love it as much as I do. Just to give you a little background information, I’ve been working feverishly since March on rebranding Live Love and Read. From new business cards to obtaining a business license, you name it and I’ve probably done it. Now that I can speak from experience, rebranding is like having a baby! For MONTHS you are cultivating/implementing ideas in hopes of finally giving birth for the entire world to see. While I am thankful for this experience, I am sure glad it is over. But before I close this chapter of Live Love and Read and move onto the next, I would like to thank some pretty amazing peeps who’ve been of tremendous help throughout this process.
Jason: Any man who puts up with a fashion obsessed woman deserves 5 REALLY BIG gold stars. Not only does my sweet husband support me, but he also has been super involved in making my blogger dream come true. He’s my editor, financial adviser, sounding board and sooooo much more! All in all, he’s a ROCKSTAR.
Lacey: Having an honest, non-subjective voice in rebranding is KEY. Lacey of A Lacey Perspective Consulting has been an incredible resource for me. Lacey has provided me with her honesty, knowledge and encouragement. She’s truly an expert in the bloggersphere and I could not have done this without her guidance. So thank you Lacey! You are my blogging fairy godmother!
Bryan: Behind every awesome blog website, there is an awesome graphic designer. Bryan Minear is seriously one of the most talented individuals I know. Not only is he an artist, but an incredibly tech savvy and resourceful individual. Oh yes, I should mention that he is also a photographer (he shot our wedding) and is Kimberly’s brother! So, naturally I have mad love for this kid!
Sarah: Having beautiful penmanship is something that most girls dream of! Sadly, that wasn’t an artistic ability God gave me, but He did send me a talented friend who has become my go-to calligraphist. When it was time for a new logo, I immediately called Sarah Rowan of Callie Anna Chalk Shoppe and she got things in motion. She’s an artist that aims for perfection and will never provide you with ANYTHING less than that.
Kimberly: We all have that one person in our life who’s amazingly kind, patient and willing to help you do any and EVERYTHING. For me that person is Kimberly Jones (aka my blog photographer). I still cannot believe that we have only known each other for 10 months! Our working relationship has evolved into a beautiful friendship.
Katelyn, Keisha, Jamie and Vanessa: To my sweet friends who have listened to me complain, whine and complain some more, I appreciate your unwavering support and positive affirmations along the way. I seriously couldn’t have made it to the finish line without you. I’m beyond thankful to call each of you my friend!
Again, I hope you LOVE the new site. I am beyond ecstatic to start this new journey with you all…like seriously excited. YAY for change.

Although I am a lover of all things summer, I must admit…I do love a good sweater, some riding boots and candy corns. The weather is starting drop here in the Mid-Ohio Valley so I’ve slowly began pulling out some of my favorite fall pieces. Right now we have those days were its cool in the mornings and evenings and sorta warm during the day aka perfect layering weather. Before these days are completely gone and I’m living in a polar vortex for 6 months, I want to embrace wearing dresses/skirts without tights! On a random side note, am I the only one who finds tights itchy and annoying? Ugh. And oh yes, let’s applaud Kimberly for finding this dope car junk yard (hence the title) out in the middle of Nowhere, Ohio. Absolute perfection.
I’m a firm believer that no season really has to be over! Granted it’s a little chilly and rainy outside, but there is still time to incorporate a few of your favorite summer pieces into your fall wardrobe. After all, the KEY to building a great wardrobe is learning how to make your clothing trans-seasonal. Here’s a look at how I’ve transitioned a summer-esque kimono into a fall staple.
The day Drew Barrymore told me she “LOVED” my sweater while at the New York City Ballet Annual Luncheon in 2013 remains to be one of the greatest moments of my fashion life. For those of you who don’t know the full story about this epic life moment, click HERE and HERE and it will give you all of the juicy details. After chatting with my friend Jennifer (who’s a lead stylist at Dream Dry on 57th) about carving out some time to snap a few blog photos, I just knew that I had to wear this sweater for the shoot! The question mark of “but how should I style it” came later and it wasn’t until the eve of leaving for NYC that I figured it out…a little Drew Barrymore meets Carrie Bradshaw.
We are week three post Labor Day and I’m still working the white. I’ve always LOVED white, but my love for it has intensified after seeing all of the street style from #NYFW and evening gowns from Miss America…sooooo much WHITE. So, I’m currently going thru a “wear white as often as you can” phase. I’m sure it will pass, but in the meantime I will just enjoy and marvel in wearing and purchasing white often (sorry
