By now, I am sure that you guys already know who is Katelyn is! But just in case you don’t…take a peek HERE.
Well, just 2 weeks ago she had the opportunity to perform with Anthony Mossburg (his tunes are available for purchase via iTunes…and yes, you should check him out!) for his album debut at the Smoot Theater in Parkersburg. When Katelyn told me back in November that she would be performing along side Anthony, I immediately volunteered myself to be her stylist! And here’s the best part…SHE AGREED! ha. After countless hours of picture text messaging and pinning to one another, we created a look that was absolutely perfect for the performance. Say hello to Sandra D. (and big thank you to Christopher Read (Kate’s husband) for coming up with that title).
I must admit…I’m loving the fur trend and I hope that it NEVER fades away. I feel like we are living in olden days when it was considered “normal” for a woman to regularly wear fur. I would give anything (well, not just anything…lol) to experience the fashion of that era. Just imagine…walking into Bergdorf Goodman’s on 5th Ave in the 1950s to purchase a lush piece of fur, a bottle of Chanel perfume and a pair of black stilettos by Roger Vivier. Oh, the splendor. Now that I’m done daydreaming, let’s get back to this wanderlust Get The Look Thursday…say hello Vintage Fur, my absolute most favorite #GTLT to date with imagery by Kimberly J. Photography!
So, I’m not sure if you remember or not, but back in November I posted my “November Desires.” And one of those six desires happened to be this sweet reindeer graphic tee from the J. Crew factory and thanks to my amazing momma I was able to snag it! However, I was a tad disappointed upon receiving it to discover that it was EMBELLISHED and I ABSOLUTELY HATE EMBELLISHED graphic tees. It just looks cheap and corny in my opinion. I know…pretty harsh. But, after 2 hours of meticulously cutting tiny threads, I removed all of the bead work and ended up with the most perfect reindeer tee. I think I will name her, Olive. ha.

As most of you guys know, I have a dance background. So naturally, I love anything that is long, has movement and is pleated. In March 2013 I saw pictures of my sister-in-law, Katelyn, wearing a ballet pink, pleated maxi for one of her performances. I immediately texted and said, “I need that skirt! Where did you get it?” To my surprise
but not to my surprise she spilled the beans…”TJ MAXX! Why of course?” lol. Seeing that every TJ Maxx has different inventory, she promised to go and see if they had another one and guess what?!? THEY DID! Before Katelyn even confirmed if they had another or not, I already knew how I wanted to style this skirt. However, it has taken until NOW for me to get it just RIGHT! I had most of the pieces I needed to create this “Military Chic'” look, but it just didn’t feel complete until I received this perfectly cropped military jacket.
Until about 4 years ago, I followed the “No White After Labor Day” rule and was super strict about it. I would basically gag if I saw someone wearing white before Easter. haha. However, when I began to explore the wonderful world of fashion, I soon learned that the rule had become null and void. However, we all know that old habits die hard…so I still struggled with the white experimentation for the fall and winter seasons. Per the usual, one random day, the fashion lightbulb finally went off! The key to wearing white after Labor Day is to pair it with different textiles (ex. suede, wool, leather) and darker colors! With that thought in mind I was able to make my white jeans (as well as other white items in my closet) more fall/winteresque, rather than bright and summery. Here is a little inspiration for ya..

I’m that girl who happens to have a “love hate relationship” with graphic tees. They are fun and cute, but there is ALWAYS a BIG FAT BUT for me…LOL. I always buy them and end up giving them away during my annual closet purge. However, there is one that I just cannot seem to part with…I purchased it maybe 5 years ago while at a major blowout sale at Burlington Coat Factory with my mom during the Christmas holiday. Well, this $7 Breakfast at Tiffany’s graphic tee has seen the light of day maybe 4 or 5 times since I purchased it. So, just the other day while attempting to organize my t-shirt drawer (which is a never ending process), I decided it was time to challenge myself and make this stinking graphic tee a wardrobe staple! And I just think I may have succeeded…
It’s Labor Day and you already know what I’m thinking….shopping, shopping and more shopping! However, I am partaking in “No Shop September,” which means I won’t be shopping….not even a little bit! I’ve already been tempted this weekend while browsing at the local TJ Maxx…BLAH. Although I am not shopping, I wanted to spread the news on a couple of deals you may not be able to resist!
