The last couple of weeks have been insanely busy! In fact, they have been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to share a couple of posts with you. One of these being a review of Marcelle Cosmetics! As many of you know, I am obsessed with Birchbox. What I love most about the company is their genuine desire to enrich your beauty life by providing you with access to some of the best products out there! I mean it’s kinda awesome. For the last two years, I’ve been a Birchblogger, which provides you with even more Birchbox awesomeness! Back in late August, I received 4 products from Marcelle Cosmetics (courtesy of Birchbox) and for the last 12 weeks, I’ve been consistently incorporating them into my daily makeup routine. I’m sure you have already figured it out, but if you haven’t, Marcelle Cosmetics is most definitely one of my new favorites. Here’s a little look at how I use their products!
The four products I received: BB Cream Gold Glow, Xtenison Plus Mascara, Lux Gloss Cream and Monochromatic Bronzer. I’ve posted all of the links to these products down below for those of you who are interested.
So, here’s my bare face! That way you get a sense of the progression from beginning to end. Oh yes, I apologize that my eyes are being a little red. That is a direct byproduct of not sleeping/stressing, which appears to be the story of life right now.
For starters, I applied the BB Golden Glow just like I would apply any other foundation/BB Cream, with a clean foundation brush. While this particular product works for all skin types, I mixed in a little bit of my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for coloring. The Marcelle BB Golden Glow just appeared a little too light on my skin. I literally just mixed together one squirt of the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and the BB Cream Golden Glow, to adjust the coloring for my skin.
The final product of the BB Cream and Tinted Moisturizer mixed together. I’ve used the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for months and I’ve NEVER had a glow quite like this before combining the two. It’s so natural and light. For those of you who are hesitant about trying a BB Cream or Tinted Mositurizer, I would encourage you to at least give it a shot. Keep in mind that there will be less coverage than a heavy foundation, but who needs to wear heavy foundation everyday? No one! I find it incredibly freeing to use products that still provide me with coverage, but don’t require nearly as much time to apply.
Even with a natural look I still like to highlight and contour just a little bit. For this effect, I use NARS Creamy Concealer for highlighting and Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. To set everything, I use MAC Mineralize Skin Finish.
Sadly, I inherited my momma’s nonexistent, baby eyelashes. The amount of mascara that I use for these puppies is insane. Depending on my schedule demands, I can easily go through a tube of mascara in 6 weeks. And I don’t believe that is normal…lol. Because of my barely there eyelashes, I am always excited to try new mascaras! Well, the Marcelle Xtenison Mascara did not disappoint.
Pretty awesome, huh? I just applied two coats when I would have typically applied 4 coats with 2 mascaras.
For finishing touches, I added the Monochromatic Bronzer to the apples of my cheeks and the Lux Cream Gloss to my lips.

I’ve always dreamt of having a bathroom with lots of counter space so I could create a wicked awesome vanity! Welp, that dream came true when I moved to Parkersburg, WV. In Jason and my master bathroom we managed to get a ridiculous amount of counter space that has now been glamorized by your’s truly. Oh yes, I was generous enough to give Jason a tiny bit of space for his clippers and tooth brush, but the rest is…ALL MINE. haha. For those of you who know me personally, you know I’m bit of a freak when it comes to organization and storage. Everything has a home. After it has been used IT MUST return to that exact spot or I’ll have a mild anxiety attack (but HEY that’s how you preserve things…lol.). While that level of organization can be a little exhausting at times, I’m so thankful that I have such a great system. It makes life sooo much easier when I’m in a hurry for a meeting, packing for a trip and all that jazz. So due to popular demand, here’s an inside look at my vanity.
Yes, that is a 3 tier serving dish that I converted into an earring holder! Double win…functionality and beauty.
A simple acrylic soap dish I found while shopping at TJ Maxx.
Thank you Grasie Mercedes for this wonderful bracelet holder idea! Candles. You know the cheap ones with pictures of Mary and Jesus? Who would have ever thought they are the perfect size for bracelets.
Absolutely love this little station! The serving tray is from Target. I also got the gold mirrored bathroom coordinates from Target and I simply spray painted the mason jar that is now a makeup brush holder.
One for soap and the other for hand lotion. From Target.
Looking for a makeup storage solution? If so, Birchboxes! The size is perfect and they fit in most bathroom drawers. Also, what I love most about this storage concept is the fact that it’s portable. I can simply put the lid on these boxes and throw them in my duffle bag. It’s pretty amazing.
Birchboxes are also wonderful for hair accessories and misc. beauty samples storage.
And that’s my vanity! If you have any questions on any of the products you see or my storage ideas, please drop a comment below! Would love to help ya : )

Before we knew it, the day was gone and it was time to GLAM UP for the Cynthia Rowley presentation. I excitedly/nervously touched up my makeup from a long day of running around the city and changed clothes. My biggest fear was not being dressed well enough or too much. I was so stressed about this that I basically gave myself a mini anxiety attack Tuesday morning prior to flying out. Thankfully Jason was able to help me calm down a bit! Ok, so I’m sure some of you are thinking, “Whoa, she was doing the most!” And I will admit, YES, I probably was…but HEY! This is a BIG DEAL. It’s not everyday that you can say you got to attend a super groovy fashion presentation in conjunction with Birchbox. Ok, I’m moving on with the story. Promptly at 6:25 PM, Katelyn and I went downstairs to find a fancy smacy black SUV to transport us to the Paramount Hotel. We felt pretty cool.
We successfully made it to the Paramount Hotel in just 10 minutes with a few minutes to spare. So we marveled at the beautiful space. Shortly after, we were escorted upstairs by a Birchbox team member to take part in the backstage fun. And here’s what it was like….
Cynthia Rowley Presentation
Seeing all of the models get their hair and makeup done was by far one of the most exciting parts for me! Often times we see this in movies, but it was pretty stinking cool to experience it first hand. All of the commotion in such a tiny space was amazingly impressive.
Birchbox was there being AWESOME per the usual, providing sweet treats and birchbox goodies. Such a great atmosphere.
Shout out to Michael Stewtart for showing Katelyn and I a handy little photography lighting trick with this photo! You’re awesome!
According to Katia, my jacket was extremely soft and cuddly!
Juliette from Birchbox! Absolutely adore this girl. Kind isn’t the word to describe how wonderful she is.
Aerial dancing, anyone?
And last, but certianly not least…here’s my full look from the evening. I must admit, I was beyond pleased with the final outcome. Fashion styling WIN! woot woot.
And that’s a wrap folks! I know this post is wayyyy longer than usual for me, but I just didn’t want to keep you guys waiting any longer. Below you will find the “get the look” details for this ensemble. Also, if you are on Instagram, be sure to double tap the photo corresponding to this post and an awesome company, LiketoKnow.IT, will send you an e-mail as to where you can purchase the exact same or similar products. It’s pretty resourceful. Oh yes, also be sure to checkout hashtags #bbnyfw and #CRsecret on Twitter and Instagram to see more photos from NYFW.
As always thanks for reading!

Well, I still cannot believe that I won the Birchbox #OOTD contest! It all feels very surreal. I’ve spent the last couple days saying “OMG, did that really happen?” Yup, it did! Ahhh…
Since I was pretty busy running from activity to activity, I felt it would be best for me to do a little #LLRnyfw blog series this week. That way you guys would have a TRUE inside glimpse at everything that happened from beginning to end. So, today I will be covering my stay at the amazingly lush, yet industrial Ace Hotel of Midtown Manhattan.
I absolutely love hotels. Especially unique little boutique hotels! I love experiencing new atmospheres and designs. Also, I should note that none of these pictures will do justice to how amazing this spot is. It is definitely one of those places that you have to experience for yourself…and that experience begins the moment you walk into the lobby of the Ace.
All of the artwork and furnishings are from local artists. And this bed…one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept on. Katelyn and I both looked forward to sleeping every night!
This shower was a dream! The water was nice and hot…and the spout is titled! It’s the little things that count.
Welcome goodies we found from Birchbox in our room! Cynthia Rowley eye liner and eye shadow palette, Benefit mascara and a lovely little note. The Birchbox team sure knows how to make a girl feel special.
A fully stocked SMEG Italian fridge with a few of my favs..
And our view from the 6th floor.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Ace Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it! If you are traveling to the city and looking for a unique place to stay…you should definitely checkout Ace. Or if you already live in the city and want to enjoy some good coffee and/or an adult beverage, you should make a trip to 29th Street (btw 5th and 6th) just to experience the lobby. It’s pretty cool. Big thanks to Birchbox for finding such an awesome place for Katelyn and I to rest our little heads.
Be sure to swing by tomorrow as I’ll be sharing pics from my tour of the Birchbox HQ.

Sooooo just in case you guys have not noticed, my most favorite fall pieces are the Live a Little military jacket and my Express cheetah print infinity scarf that I have featured a couple of times on Get The Look Thursdays! Not a week goes by were I DO NOT wear these two pieces at least twice…I just love them! But because I wear these pieces pretty often, I am always looking for new ways to style them…that way they look completely different than the last time, which can be tricky. Especially when I am going on day #67 of “NO PERSONAL SHOPPING!” Anywho, I have given myself a new challenge….learning how to make the most of my closet with what I have! Sounds a lot easier said than done, right? However, in actuality, it really is quite easy. It simply takes a bit more creativity on my end.
Bold Lips & the Drew Berrymore Sweater
Well folks, February is just about over! I feel as if time is moving in super sonic speed. Is it just me? Hope not! According to my best friend, Vanessa, life is dragging by. haha.
Although, February has been a busy month it also has been very exciting! Here’s a little recap of some of the fun things that have taken place in the last two weeks:
New York Fashion Week: Fall/Winter Collections 2013
Every fashionista dreams of the tents. The white tents that is. As you may recall me sharing in a previous post about NYFW, it takes some pretty powerful connections to get inside of any fashion week event. On February 13th (one of the last days of NYFW for Fall/Winter Collections 2013). My internship advisor and friend, Sarah Horne asked if I would be interested in attending a little exhibition with her across the plaza….in the tents! Of course, I said YES! We had tickets to a presentation by Leather Japan. And then I had a chance to wonder around and absorb the magic. THANK YOU SARAH HORNE. You = Da Bomb!
Birchbox Event: Beauty, Bellinis and Bites
You all know that I am beyond obsessed with Birchbox. Just like last season they hosted another Birchbox Fashion Event, which was super swank and very different from last season’s. The event was hosted at the SoHo House in the Library Room. So I spent couple of hours there with my friend, Kira and we enjoyed meeting and greeting with peeps, casual conversation over bellinis and bites while also engaging in a serious glam session with Lancome makeup artist, Alex Sanchez. Thank you to Emily Loftiss for connecting the dots and making this possible for me!
New York City Ballet Rose Ballet
One word..swank! This past Thursday was the 2nd Annual Young Patron’s Circle Rose Ball. We had approximately 350 guests to attend this event and it was great! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. And just to spice things up…it was Masquerade Ball! Almost everyone was wearing mask which helped cultivate this super sleek and fun atmosphere. And yes, there was dancing!
Yay for February Funness! Cannot wait to see what March has in store : )
