Get The Look Thursdays: Hollywood Glamour

Thursday, January 16th, 2014

One of my most favorite holidays of the year is New Year’s Eve! It is one of the few holidays that you can wear gobs of sparkles and it be completely ok! ha. After styling a super cute look for New Year’s Eve and planning a fancy smancy soiree, Jason and I came down with the stomach flu (along with everyone else in the Mid-Ohio Valley) and had to cancel the party. As you could imagine, I was pretty bummed. Mainly because I could not wear my new sequined skirt…but then I remembered my lovely blog readers. I figured I could at least share the look with you guys! So here it is….Hollywood Glamour aka Candace’s New Year’s 2014 outfit.

Warby Parker Introduces The Palm Canyon Collection!

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014

So, I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love retailers that go the extra mile to cultivate both a convenient and memorable experience for their customers. As someone who thoroughly enjoys shopping, I really appreciate the places that make me feel comfortable and valued. And I am proud to say Warby Parker is one of those unique places!  While living in New York and exploring the Highline one Saturday after brunch, I remember stumbling across this beautifully decorated store. Attracted by the creative name, I walked in to discover that it was an eyewear boutique. Absolute WANDERLUST.

Well, today they released their newest collection…Palm Canyon. The Palm Canyon Collection is…stunningly chic, refreshing and bold! Perfect for Spring. Here’s a little excerpt from Warby Parker’s media release about the collection…I think it best describes the concept and inspiration behind this spectacular collection.

With the Palm Canyon Collection, we’ve refreshed some of our best-loved frames – Winston, Duckworth, Preston, and Wheeler – in a Palm Springs palette of mesquite, acacia, ironwood, and sand. Each frame features a hand-mixed acetate inset at the end piece, with patterns inspired by Color Field painters and midcentury minimalist.

Designing and constructing the patterns required a technique that took over a year to perfect, and each pair is distinguished with a unique contrast detail created by melding sheets of woodwork-inspired acetate & tortoise acetate together. No two pairs are alike.”

Pretty awesome, huh? The frames are now available for $145 online at and at Warby Parker stores (See WP Locations HERE).

In the near future I will be doing a little styling with some frames from Warby Parker for Get The Look Thursdays. Compliments of their wonderful Home Try-On program! I cannot wait to share the pictures with you! But in the meantime skip on over to and shop around. You won’t regret it : )

Golden Globes Fashion Favs!

Monday, January 13th, 2014

Award season is OFFICIALLY upon us…People’s Choice Awards last week and now the Golden Globes! Such an exciting time of the year. I must say, I LOVED the variety in style and color…FASHION WONDERLUST. Here’s a recap of my Golden Globes Fashion Favs.

Nupita Nyong’oLupita- RL

1st place for the most wonderful color dress of the evening goes to Nupita. She looked stunning in this lush red dress by Ralph Lauren! 5 stars.

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift2nd place for me goes to Taylor! She actually looks like an adult in this Carolina Herrera evening gown. No sparkles, which is EXTREMELY UNCOMMON for TayTay. Also, the black bust adds a nice touch of contrast.

Maria MenounosMaria Men.

3rd place is Maria Menounos. I absolutely love this bubble gum by Max Azria Atelier. I also love the neutral makeup and sleeked back ponytail…great choices to compliment such a bold gown!

Julie BowenJulie Bowen

And 4th…Julie of Modern Family in Carolina Herrera! This dress reminds me of a Kay Unger dress that I own. Anywho, the colors are RICH, but I think what I love most about this gown is the shape of the cap sleeves and the trumpet flare. Very feminine.

The Classic Neutrals

Kerry WashingtonKerry- Balenciaga

1st up is the lovely Kerrry Washington in Balenciaga! In my book Kerry Washington can do no wrong! I just love her style. Ahhh…

Paula PuttonPaula Patton

2nd place…Paula! Lots of people really hated this dress, but I’m kinda feeling it. I love the fact that she took a risk. The cascading ruffles are absolutely stunning.

Jennifer LawrenceJennifer3rd place is Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture! Jennifer is kinda quirky, so I am not at all surprised that she selected something that wasn’t well received by everyone! She’s a unique individual who could careless about what everyone thinks.

Darkly Stunning

Sofie VergaraSofia- Zac Posen

1st – Zac Posen, you are a genius! Sofie looks absolutely beautiful in this sweetheart ball gown. The shape, the pleats, the statement necklace…it just works!

Amber HeardAmber Heard

Amber Heard comes in 2nd place! The midnight blue Versace gown and the dark eye makeup just screams “Award Season Fashion!” And oh yes, she is working that high split…yaaassss!

Emma RobertsEmma Roberts

And last, but not least, in 3rd place is Emma in a custom Lavin’s techno matte mermaid gown! The look is very similar to Sofie’s, yet different. I am particularly fond of the chandelier earrings and the hair being gently swept off of the face. She looks very regal!

Top 5 Fashion Inspirations!

Tuesday, January 7th, 2014

On countless occasions I have people who ask me where I get my fashion inspiration from! And honestly, I think I have given everyone a different answer. LOL. More often than not my fashion is inspired by what blogs I am reading, who I am following on Instagram and more. So naturally, I am influenced by those things, in addition to having an eye for unique color combinations, textures and layering. But upon sitting down to really think about who inspires me the most, 5 wondtacular women came to mind! And I must say…their styles are all different, but completely representative of the personalities they portray via social media. Sooo…without further adieu, here’s my Top 5 Fashion Inspirations.

1. Mary Seng of Happily Grey 482636_599749810081187_409473246_nSource/Credit: John Hillin Videography

What I love most about Mary’s style is it’s diversity! She can do sweet feminine one day and go to chic’ grunge the next and I just love that. It’s evident that her style is personal and truly an expression of how she feels in the moment.

2. Olivia Palermo: The Fashion It Girl & Founder of Olivia Palermo’s Style Blog and Website1176407_411212395655434_783187215_nSource/Credit: Olivia Palermo’s Style Blog and Website

Oliva P’s style is classic with a trendy flare. I think I love her style because I naturally identify with more of a classic look. If I could truly shop the way I wanted to, my closet would be very representative of Olivia’s styles. After all…she is fashion’s “IT GIRL.” Oh yes, she just got engaged to model, Johannes Huebl and they are super cute together.

3. Kamie Crawford: Miss Teen USA 2010, JAG Model and New York Socialite KamieSource/Credit: JAG Models

Kamie has stellar street style! She’s that girl that you see walking the streets of NYC and you say “OMG, love her outfit!” I would highly recommend that you follow her via Instagram to get a daily glimpse into how she styles things! Also, her makeup application is impeccable! l I would venture to say she is a young lady who’s practical and down to earth, with an eye for the finer things!

4. Emily Loftiss: Style & Beauty Expert and Blogger of Loftiss Says228070_10151018665291467_478974542_nSource/Credit: Bound By Photography

You guys already know my love for Emily Loftiss! I do believe that Loftiss Says is the first blog that I ever read consistently. What I love most about Emily’s style is the COLOR. This girl isn’t afraid to wear anything BOLD, which says a lot about her personality…she’s CONFIDENT and allows that to reflect thru her clothing, hair and makeup.

5. Grasie Mercedes- Lifestyle Blogger and Fashion Expert of Style Me GrasieGrasie202-004Source/Credit: Sylvia G Photography

I just adore Grasie! I sense that she has this sweet yet spicy personality. Her style is edgier than what I would normally wear, but I love going to her for inspiration! Also, she almost ALWAYS wears a bright red lipstick and I think that’s awesome. Wish I could pull that off.
