c5cf1e47e177f7b1864c50d13106ebdfAs I’m sure you have heard the saying, “A party really isn’t a party without a good beverage to enjoy!” Being both the City Girl and Southern Belle that I am, I could not agree more. There is just something about an alcoholic beverage that makes a party feel more festive, more fancy and more adult like. However, over the past couple of weeks I’ve had to take step back and revaluate my thought process on having the occasional beverage…I am in a new community surrounded by new people who may not have the same thought process when it comes to consuming alcohol.  While I am personally convinced that there is nothing wrong with having an alcoholic beverage if you are of legal age, it is important to be mindful of your friends and guests who would not typically partake in a festive beverage by ensuring that there are non-alcoholic beverage options available. As a host you do not want to inadvertently create a divide in your guests who are drinking alcoholic and those who are not.   So in the spirit of creating a more inclusive atmosphere for your next party here are TWO NEED TO KNOW TIPS on how to offer celebratory beverages for both the drinker and non-drinker!

1. Know Your Substitutes– So you maybe thinking about one of your favorite drinks and how to make it non alcohol friendly?! Well, to my surprise  it is much easier than I was anticipating. Simply know the correct substitutions for the alcohol and replace it using 1:1 ratio(s).

Substitute Options

  • Beer: Nonalcoholic Beer, White Grape Juice, Ginger Ale
  • Cognac: Peach, Pear, or Apricot Nectar or Juice
  • Sake: Rice Vinegar
  • Tequila: Cactus Juice or Agave Nectar
  • Vodka: White Grape Juice Mixed with Lime.

I would suggest that you give yourself plenty of preparation time as you may need to adjust the beverage accordingly to make it taste super yummy.  Oh yes, if your drink recipe requires any fruit, be sure to cut it the night before and soak it in Sprite, 7 Up or any type of lemon lime soda.  This little trick will make the fruit even sweeter!

2. Make It Jazzy– While this is sad to admit, but I am a sucker for a beverage that is all dressed up with garnish and has a cute name! And I know that I am not the only one who feels this way. LOL.  When serving non-alcoholic beverages make it jazzy! Give it a cute name so it sounds way more interesting than really is! Also, do not be afraid to add unusual garnishes as it makes the drink even more appealing. Remember, people enjoy festive beverages because it creates atmosphere! Here are a few different ways you can dress up your drink:

And there you have it my friends…two easy tricks that can help you have the most rocking soiree with the best beverages! Jason and I are having a house warming party very soon and I am excited to give these tips a whirl myself.  I am going to attempt to make a non-alcoholic version of the ever famous Raspberry Beer Cocktail! Fingers crossed : )

Kate Middleton in Royal Labor!

Happy Monday Peeps!

As most of you know I am HUGE fan of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge! You may remember one of my previous blog post about her incredible style and if not, here’s the link for ya: The Royal Fashionista Kate Middleton.  Any who, I share all of this to say that Kate is in ROYAL LABOR! The Duchess entered St. Mary’s Hospital around 6 A.M with Prince William and went into labor naturally. So as I and the rest of the World waits to find out if the royal baby is a boy or a girl, I figured we could take a little stroll down memory lane and remember some of Kate’s awesome pregnancy fashion!

Well, I’ll just say this…Bryan Minear does not play around when it comes to editing wedding photos. Jason and I have been married for a month now and Bryan already has them DONEZO. Due to the many request I received pre-wedding, I wanted to take a moment and provide my wonderful readers with a little peek inside our special day. So here’s the link: http://bryanminear.pass.us/readwedding.   However, there is a catch.  If you choose to share these photos with anyone else or on any form of social media it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE that copyright credit be given to Bryan Minear Photography as he is a great artist and a dear friend of mine who deserves the upmost respect for his brilliance. And just in case you are wondering, yes I am pretty tough when it is come to copyright laws and such. Homie don’t play! LOL. Anywho, happy viewing and please let me know what are some of your favorite images as I need help selecting which ones to to print for our West Virginia pad!

Vintage, Whimsical and Everything in Between: My Session with Anna Kinchen Photography

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013

It isn’t everyday that a bride gets to work with the photographer of her dreams! Luckily, I was blessed enough to have that opportunity.  I have known Anna Kinchen for quite sometime. To be completely honest I was intrigued by her beauty, spectacular makeup application and hobo yet chic’ preppy style. I mean seriously…isn’t she beautiful?? 310153_820595942387_66670116_n

But to make a long story short, Anna began her journey in photography at the age of 15 which led her to Savannah School of Art and Design where she obtained a degree in photography. Naturally, one can see that Anna has a great passion for photography, however what sets her apart from the others is her impeccable attention to detail and ever evolving creativity.  She aims to capture and tell a different story through her lenses for each and every client. One could call it “photography creativity exclusivity” (and yes, I made up that phrase)! So I share all of this to say…if you are looking for a photographer who likes vintage, whimsical and everything in between..then Anna Kinchen is your girl! She is amazingly friendly, creative and organized (she just got a new studio space that is BANGING!).  Here’s a little sneak peak from my bridal session with her at Pebble Hill Planation in Thomasville, GA:
