It’s hard to believe that’s been 365 days since Jason and I got hitched! As corny as it sounds, it really does feel like it was just yesterday. This year has been exciting. I’ve learned sooo much about myself, Jason, and what marriage TRULY means. And for those of you who are curious to know my thoughts on marriage…well, it’s simply (not so simple) dying to yourself everyday. There is no longer an “I,” but a WE at all times. Some days it’s a rather simple “WE” and on other days it’s fight because that dang human flesh is sooooo selfish. But as you allow your love to deepen for one another, you soon realize it’s not so hard to say no to the selfish ways of the human heart.
Sooo….here’s to ONE YEAR of sweet, beautiful marriage to my darling love! I do hope you guys enjoy these pictures because I’M ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED. Big thank you to Kimberly J. Photography and Callie Anna Chalk Shoppe & Wedding Design Boutique for making this dream session a reality! Also, these photos are so wondtacular, I will not be commentating as I normally do. I felt that it took away from the imagery!
Just in case you haven’t noticed, but I live for the wonderfully bright wardrobe statement pieces. They just make me HAPPY! However, there is JUST ONE downside to these lovely pieces…you cannot wear them as often. : ( Any who, back to happiness as I refuse to dwell on the not so cool things! It was around this time two years ago that I was working at a lovely little boutique and day spa, and during my time there I had the opportunity to discover lots of amazing lines and acquire pieces that I probably wouldn’t have found on my own! Like this little Jackie O inspired gem.
For the last couple of weeks, this girl has been dreaming of spring! I absolutely hate cold weather and not to mention, I cannot drive in the snow. I’ve been chilling at home waiting for the snow to melt and having Jason drive me around town. I’m not going to lie, I don’t mind his chauffeur services. haha. So in hopes of spring coming (please come, please come) soon, I have decided to put my creative energy into designing a winter look with warm neutrals and pastels. And I must say, this is my MOST favorite Get The Look Thursdays outfit ever!!! The wardrobe, the sunlight, the scenery and Kimberly’s wicked awesome photography skills…ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Also, I would like to thank Lizzy, a wonderful Birchbox Instagram follower, for the lovely inspiration behind this week’s title. You rock Lizzy : )
I must admit…I’m loving the fur trend and I hope that it NEVER fades away. I feel like we are living in olden days when it was considered “normal” for a woman to regularly wear fur. I would give anything (well, not just anything…lol) to experience the fashion of that era. Just imagine…walking into Bergdorf Goodman’s on 5th Ave in the 1950s to purchase a lush piece of fur, a bottle of Chanel perfume and a pair of black stilettos by Roger Vivier. Oh, the splendor. Now that I’m done daydreaming, let’s get back to this wanderlust Get The Look Thursday…say hello Vintage Fur, my absolute most favorite #GTLT to date with imagery by Kimberly J. Photography!
One of my most favorite holidays of the year is New Year’s Eve! It is one of the few holidays that you can wear gobs of sparkles and it be completely ok! ha. After styling a super cute look for New Year’s Eve and planning a fancy smancy soiree, Jason and I came down with the stomach flu (along with everyone else in the Mid-Ohio Valley) and had to cancel the party. As you could imagine, I was pretty bummed. Mainly because I could not wear my new sequined skirt…but then I remembered my lovely blog readers. I figured I could at least share the look with you guys! So here it is….Hollywood Glamour aka Candace’s New Year’s 2014 outfit.
